PLYMPTON HEALTH & WELLNESS COUNCIL
Thank you everyone who attended the first Hike it, Plympton event on Columbus Day through the beautiful Prospect Hill. There were close to 50 Plympton students who attended and close to 100 people exercising on the first of a series of Prospect Hill hikes that the Plympton Health and Wellness Council and the PTO will be having. Keep an eye out for the next hike in December. If anyone has ideas, suggestions or concerns about hiking and walking in the Waltham and Plympton community please reach out to the Donnie Lucente who will be organizing the next hike/walk at donlucente@yahoo.com
 BOKS
The BOKS kids are getting more and more fit each and every week. In week One we learned about doing PLANKS and how they are beneficial to strengthening our core muscles. The past Two weeks have been focused on RUNNING (to improve our Stamina and Speed) which helps build up our Cardiovascular system. Now is time for the Fall Metrics Challenge. Each BOKS child will run a timed 400m Sprint (which is 4.5 laps around the gym). This gives us a data point that we can use to measure each child's progress when we do Metrics again in the Spring.

We also have a BOKS Bit at the end of every class where we teach the kids some fun facts about Nutrition. In the first few weeks we have learned all about healthy fruits and vegetables that we can eat every day. We also started talking about the kinds of foods we should eat for Breakfast to start our day right.

**A quick tip.... Try to give your kids a balanced breakfast. If they want a grain (like toast or cereal), mix in some Fruit (i.e. berries, banana, mango, citrus) which gives them quick energy and then balance that with a Protein (like Eggs, Yogurt, Cottage Cheese or Turkey Bacon) which will give them long lasting energy to get thru the day!

Go BOKStars!!!

HARLEM WIZARDS VS. WALTHAM HAWKSTARS BASKETBALL GAME
Calling all Plympton Families! Help us support our wonderful teachers and staff as they compete with fellow Hawkstars against The Harlem Wizards on Friday October 21st. Our very own Mrs. Nadeau, Mr. Audette and Mr. Rock will be on the court showing us what's up! Proceeds from the event benefit the Kennedy Middle School PTO with $2.00 of every tickets sold to Plympton families going directly back to our PTO. Please come out for what promises to be a night of great family fun, community and friendly competition.  Purchase tickets and help the Plympton PTO by using the link below:

Calling all Plympton Volunteers! We need you! Looking for a great way to support our PTO and get involved in a fun community event? Look no further. We are in desperate need of parent volunteers to help run the Harlem Wizards Game on Friday October 21st, at The Kennedy Middle School. Through your volunteer efforts the Plympton PTO will earn $2.00 from every ticket sold to a Plympton school family.

The link for volunteers to register online is https://goo.gl/forms/j3uf6fTg4vAmGfYs2.  All volunteers need to register online so we have their t-shirts sizes for the volunteer shirts!  We also provide free pizza and water to volunteers prior to the game, so we need to have a rough headcount.  Volunteers do not need to buy tickets for themselves, but should plan to have their children accompanied by another adult during the game.  Last year we had over 1,300 attendees so it gets a little hectic.  If you have any other questions about volunteers, please reach to Ghenya Grondin at gsloanranger@gmail.com

ELECTION DAY BAKE SALE
The Election Day Bake Sale is a long standing Plympton School PTO tradition. Proceeds from the bake sale go towards the PTO's annual scholarship fund which provides a $1500 scholarship to a Waltham High School senior who attended Plympton School. This is possible because of the generosity of our families.
Sign up here http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c45a4ad2ba0fd0-election3 to either donate a baked good or help staff the annual Election Day Bake Sale on Tuesday, November 8th from 7am to 7pm. All baked goods can be homemade or store bought. We are also in need of other food/beverage items for donation. The following is just a suggestion of items needed. Have a specialty? We'd love to share it with our community! Items can be dropped off at the school on Monday afternoon/evening orTuesday during the bake sale. If possible, it really is helpful to individually wrap your items and please be sure to indicate if they contain nuts.
This is a NO SCHOOL day for the kids but this is a day long event (7am-7pm) and we need all the help we can get to help sell baked goods and raffles-even if just for an hour.  We sell breakfast and lunch items.  This labor-intensive event is run by Jen Renaud and she could use a few people to help secure donations before that day-please email Jen  to get involved: jlrenaud40@gmail.com
Thank you for your support!
